STUDY SPANISH FOR SPECIFIC PURPOSES

We offer Spanish for specific purposes in the fields of Medical Spanish, Spanish for Business and Finance, Spanish for teachers, Spanish for Real Estate and Spanish for Law Enforcement among others.

These courses are designed for professionals who want to improve their Spanish skills and develop their vocabulary in order to effectively deal with their Spanish-speaking clients. This is a customized professional course and the exercises will focus on the needs of the student. Students should have a basic knowledge of Spanish in order to benefit from this course, and the number of weeks is determined by the student's needs and schedule.

The class can be arranged for both group and private. 

  • Level required: For students with level A1 or more.
  • Start dates: Mondays, to be arranged.
  • Lessons per week: 20 lessons.
  • Lessons per day: 4 lessons.
  • Duration: from 1 to 40 weeks.
  • Maximum per Class: 6 students.
  • Class Schedule: WAYRA determines the schedule, 8:00-12:00 a.m. or 1:00-5:00 p.m.
  • Certificates: Attendance and Achievement Certificate at graduation.

Classes include registration fee, placement test and VAT. Books are not included.

School holidays: There are no classes during the Easter Week from March 25th - March 29th, 2024 (lodging runs normaly). Additionally, the school will be closed from August 19th, 2024 - September 15th, 2024 (incl. lodging) and during Christmas week from December 23rd - December 25th, 2024 (lodging runs normally). National holidays: January 1st, April 11th, May 1st, July 25th, August 1st, December 1st and December 25th. National holidays are subject to change. There is no refund for National Holidays.

 

LEVELS OF SPANISH

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY TEST

Measure your command of the Spanish Language with the free WAYRA language proficiency test. WAYRA provide the opportunity for you, to test your proficiency level of the Spanish language. We have based this test on the standard grammar and vocabulary that you would find in any language-learning materials. WAYRA offer these tests for self-evaluation purposes only. You may find that your score on this test is not consistent with other tests you have taken.

Online Spanish Language Test

A1: BREAKTHROUGH OR BEGINNER

Can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type. Can introduce him/herself and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where he/she lives, people he/she knows and things he/she has. Can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.

A2: WAY STAGE OR ELEMENTARY

Can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment). Can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters. Can describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.

B1: THRESHOLD OR INTERMEDIATE

Can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. Can deal with most situations likely to arise while traveling in an area where the language is spoken. Can produce simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest. Can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

B2: VANTAGE OR UPPER INTERMEDIATE

Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialization. Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

C1: EFFECTIVE OPERATIONAL PROFICIENCY OR ADVANCED

Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognize implicit meaning. Can express ideas fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Can produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organizational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.

C2: MASTERY OR PROFICIENCY

Can understand with ease virtually everything heard or read. Can summarize information from different spoken and written sources, reconstructing arguments and accounts in a coherent presentation. Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations.
